Riding over to Brooklyn

I was inspired by our bike riding expedition in Amsterdam...so I suggested that Nick and I rent bikes in NYC!  We didn't just tool around on them...we biked to Brooklyn!  It was so much fun and as Nick said "one of the best things we've done in NY".  It was a sweaty, hot day and a little more of a workout that I had anticipated, but still so awesome.

We rented bikes from a shop two blocks from us on Charles St...nice guys and a cool bike shop.  Started at Charles St and the West Side Highway and rode along the bike/running path all around the tip of Manhattan toward the Brooklyn Bridge.  We passed through Tribeca, Battery Park, the Financial District, South St. Seaport and then up to the Bridge.  Biking across the bridge was definitely a work out...but being on such a historical, iconic NY structure was worth it!  We took lots of pics and then just rode all the way into Brooklyn.  We waited in line (not planned) for some famous Brooklyn Pizza, Grimaldis!  Soooo good and fueled us up for our ride back.

If you're interested in the time and distance...5.5 miles there and 2 hours because we stopped alot to sight see and take pictures; 4.25 miles back and about 25 mins because we took a direct route home.

It's never too late to be a tourist in your own town...love from the city!
